Mature Seed: Cooked like common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) or cowpea (vigna unguiculata) cultivars. 

Immature Seed pod: boiled and cooked as a standard vegetable.

Leaves: boiled or steamed and then are often sautéed in oil with assorted seasonings or fried.

Roots/Tubers: Typically prepared as the name implies, like that of yams (Dioscorea) or potatoes (Solanum Tuberosum).
